Kanye believing that getting out of the Sunken Place means embracing Trump is, you know, the exact damn opposite: it's being IN the sunken place and convincing yourself your "owners" mean the best. But this story of "reversing / corrupting clear metaphors" is so common right now.

And the problem is amplified by the short-form nature of social media "discussion." In a longer dialogue, you have the opportunity to reconcile differing meanings for the same jargon. But here we just have to keep using our terms and hope everyone understands.

And then when each group inevitably brings their own meaning for the same words to the table, it just reinforces the division and tribalism, since as you said there can never be a coming together while we can't even agree on where to start talking.
