assuming we're talking about WESTWORLD, my biggest disappointment was how it feinted toward being a show that was about more than the surface-level twists, then relied *very* heavily on those same twists late in the season. I think S2 could potentially be a *lot* better

I agree. it’s the kind of show that should open up on rewatch, but instead you end up with a feeling of “wow they really did needlessly obfuscate a lot huh?” (yeah I just rewatched it)

Oh it's deeeeffffffffinitely wheel spinning. I'm so sick of the notion that "character development" means you have to let the plot momentum take a back seat. The best tv shows do both and tell mini-stories within. Always.

I really think it's an example of rearranging the whole plot around a "twist" (Jimmi is MIB??) that muddles the progression of the narrative. Last season of Lost suffers immensely from this (among other things).
