Also, with Unsane / A Quiet Place / We Were Never Really Here, please let this be a lovely resurgence of tight 90 minute movies.

One of the best things some films can do is have the decency to end in 90 minutes. Cut the bloat. Keep it tight.

Depends on the story truly. I've seen borefests of 90mins and epics of 3h. Length should never be a criteria for critiquing the final product.

The (seeming) resurgence of great 90min films and excellent <45min albumshas been the best thing for my consumption of art lately

Agreed: Just finished a re-watch of The Iron Giant. Storytelling finesse in 90 minutes.

Have you seen Thoroughbreds? It's also 90 min and I can definitely sense its stage-play script origins in the best way. Small cast, few sets, great use of them, and great music.

What did you think of You Were Never Really Here?! Thought it was a visceral look at PTSD in an airtight thriller format, but its meditation on contemplating suicide just destroyed me. Every time I stopped myself at the last second? This film gets that.

Man I feel like Netflix and parenthood are making me unable to sit through a 2 1/2 movie these days, so I totally feel this.

I find that Netflix has made me unable to sit through an hour long episode due to the way they pace most of their original content. It’s like they took 2 hours of content and made 8-12 hour shows. And now I’m ranting. Sorry.
