How about just re-interpret the Second Amendment.

I'll put it this way when it comes to the furthest point of the logic, no one needs a musket either.

We don’t have enough wolves to keep the deer population down though. In some spots of the country, hunting is the only affordable way to get meat for the year. When you say “repeal the second amendment” I hear “we should outlaw the ownership of guns”

I’m basing my argument on the cascading positive effects of the re-introduction of wolves at Yellowstone national park (all hunting is prohibited within the bounds of the park) https://www.yellowstonepark.com/things-to-do/wolf-reintroduction-changes-ecosystem …

You understand the myriad of ways that wolf re-introduction has drastically different effects / purpose / impact than hunting, right?

I do. We took the wolves out. Humans are piss-poor substitutes for wolves. Yet I can’t see how unchecked herbivore grazing is going to be something sustainable in the long run. “Car accidents keep deer #‘s down” except the more rural you go, the less cars, the more hunting

Also in rural areas of the country there are areas of the local economy entirely dependent on hunting. I know folks who lost their motel when the DNR drastically reduced permits for a couple of years in that part of the state. The permits came back but the motel didn’t.

Understand, im never not without empathy for anyone who loses jobs / way of life. But we can have a heart without being luddites about something. As this is all part of a larger societal wide issue. And guns are a damn cancer.

Because i don't even HAVE a problem with the hunting. I have the problem with the guns. And every single other civilized society in the world takes this issue seriously. Somehow, you got me to argue about a motel instead. It's displacement.

“Responsible gun owners” doesn’t have a political action committee. Not my intention to distract you from your argument, just trying to give more context/info. Looking very forward to the new book!
