1. Untagging the author. 2. Yes, of course I do. For it is not whether or not I would have done that, it's that I believe him when he tells me he would.

I've felt like this for a while, too. Lucas is often represented as this terrible filmmaker, but I've always seen him as a frustrated documentarian that packs his frames with information. Laboriously so at times. But his compositions are striking (even in ANH, I think).

There are so many well directed scenes in the original Star Wars that don't have action or have music, like this scene. The camera movement, the composition of the shots and the acting are really good: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zzs-OvfG8tE …

I didn't find this particularly convincing. Largely agree about the larger point of oppressive movie scores, though. Maybe not in William's case but I can see where they're coming from on that.

Too kind; grateful for the thought; what I vividly remember is the surprise and the pleasure of watching the movies, which differed greatly from what I'd read about them.

I couldnt read to the end after he said he didnt like the score. What does that make me?

I love the score too. Why the heck do you have to agree with him? Just keep reading. The end is the part that makes the argument.

It always bugs me when I hear Francis Ford Coppola say Star Wars robbed the world of more interesting movies from Lucas when he was the one who pushed him into writing screenplays and working with actors in the first place. He was better at editing and non-story abstract films.
