And yes, great art is often challenging, but more important is the validity deeper truth. And "The good thing about science is that it's true whether or not you believe in it." Art's really the same way, you just have to try and construct a humane argument instead.

I hate this framing because I think underlying it is that "serious art" has to be challenging and painful and consuming it needs to be *work*. It precludes the possibility that art can bring you joy.
