It's not reductive, it's the unintentional end result, but still the absolute product of such design.
We'll agree to disagree on its relative quality, but it's noteworthy that it decidedly did NOT make this anonymous Academy voter feel good and she eliminated it before Get Out. If anything Shape of Water seems to be the "make white people feel good" movie (though it's great).
"Make white people feel good" isn't Shape of Water's primary motive, of course, but set in the safely distant past, it's a film Academy voters will see themselves on the "good guys" side, while in Get Out they're the bad guys and in 3 Billboards there really aren't good guys.
Can you explain coherently how?
