And that's the way we latch onto commonalities and call them bad without even giving credit to the purpose of their functionality. Like how a lot people just said inception was bad because it had a lot of exposition, when that exposition was critical for making the 2nd half work
Thoughts: there's a lot we can say about different things... but the way you talk about what makes a story original or not and exposition heavy, taps into something I feel like is deeply, deeply misunderstood when it comes to storytelling and writing.

And with that, the way that kind of language always seems to come with constant value judgements of good / bad - when I don't think that's what makes for good criticism, let alone possible to judge.
