There is no shot that is worth someone's safety. There is nothing about run and gun guerrilla filmmaking that is "cool." There is only doing things the right way. And there is a reason we have litany of incredible stunt people.

I know we lionize the work of Jackie and Tom Cruise, but we have to remember that they *are* stunt people. They've done the actual training. They have the expertise.

Meaning there is nothing that Cruise is going to "wing" that day on set. They go through every possible issue and outcome. Especially with car safety.

All of this matters. There is no reason to push anyone into anything they're uncomfortable with when you have trained professionals for whom this is their literal job. Because all of this matters. The job is to keep people safe.

When I read the article, I thought "If Death Proof, the movie he made after the car accident, has Zoe Bell, The Bride's stunt double, and Rose McGowan in a blonde wig dying in a car accident, what does THAT mean?"

I'm guessing it's the actions of the id, and it happens with a lot of art... It's also my least favorite of his, but I don't think that has anything to do with anything.

Perhaps it’s a mea culpa - QT is Kurt Russell and Zoe Bell, Uma’s stunt-capable avatar then exacts revenge on him using the very car.
