There is no shot that is worth someone's safety. There is nothing about run and gun guerrilla filmmaking that is "cool." There is only doing things the right way. And there is a reason we have litany of incredible stunt people.

I know we lionize the work of Jackie and Tom Cruise, but we have to remember that they *are* stunt people. They've done the actual training. They have the expertise.

Meaning there is nothing that Cruise is going to "wing" that day on set. They go through every possible issue and outcome. Especially with car safety.

All of this matters. There is no reason to push anyone into anything they're uncomfortable with when you have trained professionals for whom this is their literal job. Because all of this matters. The job is to keep people safe.

The dumb thing is that the production stands to lose all their investment if the lead is killed or benched before they finish. Makes no business sense to take the risk.

Maybe I'm missing something, but both sexual harassment/assault and on-set safety seem like epic fails by
@sagaftra. After 85 years and all those dues, why are we talking about major, systemic workplace abuse? "You had one job ..."Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

A security guard’s job is to keep people safe. A director’s job is to produce a successful film. Let’s not kid ourselves. Incentives have consequences. Don’t be surprised when a bunch of weird shit is happening in a hyper competitive industry.

A bunch of weird shit like permanent body damage to uma, production workers being killed by trains, and stuntmen dying is not acceptable. My wife works on movie sets every day I shouldn't have to worry about her safety in a billion dollar industry
