Why the heck does someone have to be certain to make a given choice? The whole point is what Kelly is doing is a leap of faith for tomorrow.

Drama would be very boring if we required just certainty.

I'm fine with a leap of faith and uncertainty, and some of my favourite stories end purely on the promise of hope and nothing more.

I just don't get how a character whose husband believed in an afterlife, and who believed in reuniting with him (and her dead daughter), would throw that possibility away so lightly. Again, it's my latent Catholicism.

And I take that it's about looking ahead, but so is the belief in an afterlife and the possibility of reuniting with your loved ones. That is forward looking too.

How the heck does it throw out the possibility? The make the entire point it's not permanent and it's not like you're resigned to live forever.

But they do, don't they? That's the choice. If you chose to be uploaded to San Junipero that is your after life forever. I may be misremembering but I thought that was clearly stated. If you upload to SJ you forgo concious death, and live on in a virtual world.

Not only that but Kelly didn't even believe in heaven. They wanted to die because their daughter didn't get a chance to upload.

Also can I be honest? I think we need to take a second to just, like, talk about this. San Junipero is an incredible episode of television that's really meaningful to a bunch of people for meaningful reasons. That's an important thing to know when wading in.

And yet i see time and time again people kind of be like "i don't get it and here's why you're wrong" and then do things like this, which is list a bunch of reasons that aren't even in the episode.

And so I want you to reallllllllly take a second and think about all this.

I'm really sorry you felt I was wading in trashing SJ. Maybe I'm one in a long line of people you've had to deal with on the subject, so it's obviously tiresome. I never said you were wrong. I admitted I was in the minority in it not working for me, and why the Commuter did work
