Doing recaps of "Philip K. Dick's Electric Dreams" for @vulture and it's turned out to be this great way of talking about sci-fi functionality. Review of the first episode: "Real Life."http://www.vulture.com/2018/01/electric-dreams-recap-season-1-episode-1-real-life.html …

Seriously, we need to have a giant conversation about the way race gets portrayed in sci-fi.

And for the last of today's recaps, a haphazard slog that should be way, way more fun than it ishttp://www.vulture.com/2018/01/electric-dreams-recap-season-1-episode-7-father-thing.html …

After the last two weaker episodes, we get a nice strong entry with "impossible planet" - Geraldine Chaplin, everyone!http://www.vulture.com/2018/01/electric-dreams-recap-season-1-episode-8-impossible-planet.html …

And ninth, we have an amazing Timothy Spall performance! It's not the best executed episode of the stand-outs but it is the one that's stuck with me the mosthttp://www.vulture.com/2018/01/electric-dreams-recap-season-1-episode-9-the-commuter.html …

And lastly, Electric Dreams a monotonous look at the monotony of everyday horror.http://www.vulture.com/2018/01/electric-dreams-recap-season-1-episode-10-kill-all-others.html …

I ended up loving writing about this show, and also loving the act of watching this show. Screw the perils of "hit and miss" ratio, but that very possibility is the thrill of watching. But if you want the hits: "Crazy Diamond" "The Hoodmaker" and "The Commuter" are your ones!

I haven't seen the episode, but it reminds me of the TNG episode "The Outcast" which by simple reversal has an uncomfortable shadow of "Boy, that Gay Planet sure was bad" haunting it with the intended message of "What if it were you?".

I started watching this and unlike the other episodes I've seen so far, none of which I liked very much, I couldn't finish this one at all. It was so clear what was happening and so...unwatchable. Looked around to see what others thought and was glad to find your review.

And it's more than just the plotting framework, it's the deeper stuff.

My biggest gripe was how the ending was telegraphed about halfway in, making the last 15 minutes infuriatingly predictable. After which they doubled DOWN on the hamfisted evil company men. RIP, subtlety.
