That reminds me of when my mom banned Ren and Stimpy. For a while I thought she thought it was offensive, but actually she just thought it was too stupid

My mom wouldn't let my 13-year-old budding film buff self watch American Psycho, but said it was okay for me to read the book. The violence in the book would be less graphic, she reasoned. Hoo boy.

My mom remembered just enough of the Satanic Panic to keep me from buying D&D books when I was 12. I had to wait until I was 14 and other people already had them. Also the Blair Witch Project, but only because my other relatives were around.

That's how my parents were. I wasn't banned, but they definitely actively discouraged me from things they thought looked dumb. I have mixed feelings about this.
