No. You're not. What im saying is there's something super alluring about movies that are designed to make us feel better about it. I get caught in it too. And it's dangerous.

I just don't understand how this movie is supposed to make you feel better about it? It's clear that he's basically the villain of this movie. I hated feeling sorry for him. But it made me realize how human even racists are. It comes from somewhere.

By the end when him and Hayes team up, you realize how far she has fallen. There's a small hopeful glint that maybe through each other's broken characters they'll try to find a way to be better people but it certainly doesn't confirm it.
