And every single person demands i explain the entire movie JUST FOR THEM. Guys, it's all in there. Do the work. Think it out. You can do it.

Oh and good granola do I not think I'm the only person who gets character arcs / etc. I'm not trying to be flippant. I'm saying there's just a lot of people asking questions the movie already has very clear answers to. That's the frustration.

right? one of my first thoughts after credits rolled was "FCH is gonna fucking love this movie" i think ppl think the payoffs aren't earned because they're comparing to their expectations, not actual character motivations or choices

It’s a fascinating film. Everything is so intentional, and it all pays off. I love what it means in the context of the broader series. Thematically it is the richest Star Wars movie. But I didn’t love it on first viewing. Going again tomorrow.

If anything I'd say Rian's dedication to character arcs the film's greatest flaw. Many of the arcs come off as forced, stunted, and with unearned conclusion. And perhaps worse, many mny to the detriment of the film's scene-to-scene storytelling.
