I'll have a long-ass review eventually, but I feel THE LAST JEDI is true Star Wars, respecting The Force and The Rebellion as philosophies rather than fetishizing them as pop culture. Its answers are more meaningful and interesting than the ones everybody expected. Loved it.

I'd say Rogue One, for all its flaws, took the most successful stab at it since ESB. Might be impossible to shake entirely, but I think it really weighs notably on both TFA and TLJ.

Rouge One was so lackluster. No characters to care about and there was no thinking to be involved from the audience. Plus, Vader was never punny in the original trilogy. Why would they make him punny? It felt so forced and not Star Wars. TLJ makes you think and wonder.
