With the exception of some lazy plotting around the antagonist beast, it's honestly a solid film. One of the better recent adventure films.

I loved the giant water buffalo. Very Miyazaki. And the strange homage to Cannibal Holocaust with the giant spider impalement. Fun!

There's a gleeful sense of fun but those characters suck BIG TIME. I mean, I shudder to call them characters.

Yeah because thats what we all go see King Kong movies for. Director himself wanted to cut a few but studio said no bc of the actors.

I really enjoyed it--only problem I had was some redundant characters that resulted in lazy deaths (Goodman being the most egregious).
