It is hard - I just don't think it succeeds. Broad becomes clichéd and flat, characters become stereotypes rather than archetypes.

The visuals are amazing, and provide some beautiful moments. But every single other thing about the movie fails for me.

Still one of my favorite moviegoing experiences. The thing about spectacle: you have to pay for it but you can't buy it. Cameron's a master.
