@iamchoppah @FilmCritHULK There's a concomitant danger of assuming that childrens' cinema/lit must always = Lego and/or light and fluffy.

@iamchoppah @FilmCritHULK Which is a gross oversimplification of the tastes of children. Kids can handle thematically 'dark' material too.

@Krycek_Facility @FilmCritHULK agreed I was a little more than a child in 89 when Batman was released.

@iamchoppah @FilmCritHULK Plus, it's easy to forget how 'dark' the Batman comics were, prior to the 1960s TV series.

@Krycek_Facility @FilmCritHULK as camp as Batman 60s TV was, it was pretty subversive/suggestive for kids. Doesn't mean it wasnt for them

@iamchoppah @FilmCritHULK Excellent point! The 1960s TV show was deeply subversive. (Will Brooker's written about this in BATMAN UNMASKED.)

@iamchoppah @FilmCritHULK In fact, would be great if @willbrooker would join in this discussion! I'm sure he'd be interested in it.

@iamchoppah @Krycek_Facility FUN THING IS HULK ACTUALLY LOVES NOLAN. TDK AND INCEPTION ARE MASTERPIECES.

@FilmCritHULK @iamchoppah I think TDK is, for me, head and shoulders above Nolan's other Batman films. Inception was marvelous, I thought :)

@FilmCritHULK @Krycek_Facility but can we agree in theory that Superman needed a facelift after SR (which I liked) attempting to copy Donner

@iamchoppah @FilmCritHULK I like SR, but the Superman franchise really needed a shot in the arm. Still haven't seen MAN OF STEEL yet though.

@FilmCritHULK @Krycek_Facility films? Had they gone the same route (again, esp with an origin story) it would've seemed stale
