Just tried playing and OUTER WILDS for the first time and had a terrifyingly visceral / existential reaction to trying to navigate space and landing on the tiny planets!??!?!?!?!

I'm glad you enjoyed it! Definitely one of my favorite games ever in so many different ways; the ending made me tear up a bit.

Welcome to the club of people who can now only regain this feeling vicariously, by trawling the internet for others who are playing it and observing their journey. You will become an evangelist who can't tell people why it's so good, out of respect for ruining their experience.

This game is the definition of "sticking the landing" at every possible level.

The exploration in that game is unmatched, IMO. You get one objective, in the very beginning - get the launch codes for your first takeoff. Everything after that is self-directed and no one experiences it in just the same way.

Also the ending track, 14.3 Billion Years, lives in my head rent-free.
