I could tell Arclight news was substantial yesterday when I started feeling numb. Honestly, I still don't know how I really feel about it. I just know saw more movies there than I have anywhere else in my entire life...

For 10 years I went once or twice a week because I lived right near there and the was actually part of the whole thing that I liked most about it: it was easy and dependable.

Yes, it was expensive. But I worked long, often changing hours so I couldn't plan much. There were lots of theaters made it easy to just grab a great seat at fairly good time. They played every kind of movie, big or small. I could get there close to show time.

I had secret free parking space I will never tell another human being about. There were only 3 trailers and not 30 minutes of ads. My hearing isn't awesome and I could usually depend on the sound system. Stuff like that really made it easier.

I can't tell you how many times I was stressed and then we could just go and let that stuff melt away, feel calm and and then watch something in a place where most people were there to be undisturbed, too. It was serene.

That was the other thing I really liked - though part of me missed the bacchanalia of Boston theaters. Back where people would light up joints during How High or where I would always see Manny Ramirez as he was going into movies like "Ladder 49."

But there were other places here I could go for the energy, so it was sort of moot. And in another way, it was great for group viewing / coordination and I can't tell you how many conversations I had in that atrium or outside. I really can't.

But most of all I just think about how easy it made i for me to see absolutely everything for a decade... I hope something changes and it still makes it easy.

Without being hyperbolic, it was the gold standard for multiplex cinema. You never had to worry about cleanliness, audience chatter, phones, projection, sound.... there were a million showtimes of movies huge and tiny. Place felt like church to me and I feel Grief with a cap G.
