For 10 years I went once or twice a week because I lived right near there and the was actually part of the whole thing that I liked most about it: it was easy and dependable.

Yes, it was expensive. But I worked long, often changing hours so I couldn't plan much. There were lots of theaters made it easy to just grab a great seat at fairly good time. They played every kind of movie, big or small. I could get there close to show time.

I had secret free parking space I will never tell another human being about. There were only 3 trailers and not 30 minutes of ads. My hearing isn't awesome and I could usually depend on the sound system. Stuff like that really made it easier.

I can't tell you how many times I was stressed and then we could just go and let that stuff melt away, feel calm and and then watch something in a place where most people were there to be undisturbed, too. It was serene.

That was the other thing I really liked - though part of me missed the bacchanalia of Boston theaters. Back where people would light up joints during How High or where I would always see Manny Ramirez as he was going into movies like "Ladder 49."

But there were other places here I could go for the energy, so it was sort of moot. And in another way, it was great for group viewing / coordination and I can't tell you how many conversations I had in that atrium or outside. I really can't.

But most of all I just think about how easy it made i for me to see absolutely everything for a decade... I hope something changes and it still makes it easy.

Don't sulk, Hulk. Arclight/Cinerama Dome will not be going away. It was one of the highest grossing theaters in the country. Either Pacific will negotiate a lower rent, or another exhibitor will take over the property.

what if "another exhibitor" is a studio like Disney or Amazon trying to muscle their way into theaters? that's become a very real possibility over the last year:https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/thr-esq/judge-agrees-end-paramount-consent-decrees-1306387 …

I've been trying to pin down that feeling, because I too have more movies there than anywhere else. It's almost like, in the pre-social media days, when a good friend moved away, a hole in life that may be filled one day but never in the same way
