Ended up referencing TITANIC in a column, which of course means I thought about the incredible alternative ending. If you've never seen, oh dear, please enjoy...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9uXa1R2e4a8&ab_channel=TitanicMovie%2FPelicula …

The answer is you don't! I think sometimes you have an idea of how something works in your head and then you see it IRL and are like this doesn't work, cut it! Which he did. I'm sure there's a lot of other bad choices on the cutting room floor too.

The deleted ending always gets the glory but this is gold too! The cut scenes only help illustrate how good Titanic is though and how good Cameron is at not letting fear of ridiculousness creep in until it’s helpfulhttps://youtu.be/Uxej4hyrZrk

Yes! I've always found cameron's lack of fear of silliness or vulnerability to be a great strength. He's not restrained by "coolness."

Yeah, i think hes like the most relentlessly pragmatic craftsman, famously with the style, but even with story sense.

Obviously his action scenes are great, but I find myself in awe of his dialogue scenes, too. Just so economic and psychologically tight and clear. Yes, a little corny sometimes, but I'll take that over false complexity.

And you know what else? Really really moral. "Life is more precious than diamonds." I think we can use a little more of that messaging, even if it can sound silly.

Perhap the only part to drag is he never said a word or tried to help with standing rock and it's "like dude, you literally made a direct fable about this"
