    There are so many movies that I think have good taste. That understand how a certain move or shot will have an effect on an audience. That know how to reference things I like. That can crest on fun vibes. But my kingdom for something that knows how to create baseline tension.

        Since reading your work I've started picking up on this in other media as well (mostly comics but even things like D&D), and it's been really cool to spot! The stuff that works really drives home the stakes in such an impactful and understandable way.

        Whenever you feel ready to wade into TV anime, I’ve got one recommendation that’s on my list just because it’s *so damn good* at building tension. (The pacing can be questionable, though.)
