The second you try to bring them into "a singular identity" that people are going to want to shell out X dollars for every month is the second you are kind of facing an impossible task. Its so much harder to make all that niche exploration and make it add up to something.

It's probably one of the reasons Disney had a leg up (they were one of the few caring about that mass branding all the while) - But I dunno... I feel like this is just going to be another part of a massive unsustainable online shift w/ more studio unions :(

Disney is more poised to make this kind of singular identity, but they still have weird inconvenient things like Touchstone and Hollywood Pictures hanging out in their catalog
-
What's weird is I would literally just make it another tab you can search, literally just call it touchstone or something.

This is another good thread on this idea It’s astounding how little creativity there is in the entertainment industry, just “follow the leader.” This monkey see, monkey do approach just shows how incompetent these companies are; no leadership, no vision, no imagination.https://twitter.com/Maustallica/status/1364737107579838466 …

I can't remember the name of the film critic who brilliantly observed "Hollywood is a town where everyone's racing to be 2nd place" but it's always stuck with me.

I love how even Burnham, due to recent (extremely boring) plot developments, doesn't even have a look that clearly says "Star Trek" anymore. One of their few instantly visually recognizable brands and they're going to promote her in a leather vest instead. The mind boggles
-
Thanks. I would have had no idea at all who that was or what show/movie/franchise/brand it was.

I just saw someone from Canada tweet that “French Connection II” is on Disney+ there. Haven’t independently verified. But if so ... then, screw it. Why bother with anything?
