Because it provides the single most important factor of leverage for artists and unions to find some stake in their own success.

Which is also why I don't talk about the business side a lot. Because the essential core of any business model still comes down to quality of product. Which is why I virtually spend all my time talking about the ways we can maybe kinda sorta hopefully make better media. Anyway.

I feel like this has to be tied to their release model. Of course you don't grow audiences when all of your shows are only in the popular conversation for like a week.

I don't understand how they get that with some shows (Bojack, Stranger Things) and not others. Maybe something to do with licensing?

Netflix's creative side is sort of a grab bag of independent approaches, very little overall philosophy. Some execs there are AMAZING. Like seriously. Some... well I honestly dont get why they went into TV.

Correct me if I'm wrong but this also plays into Netflix's business model which appears to rely on dumping all eps. at once, burning through content, and then launching the next thing. Unlike Disney+, for example, which allowed audiences to build and discover the Mandalorian.
