Don't get me wrong, I'm not exactly looking at these folks with a sense of hagiography. Most were authoritarian old rich white dudes. And things becoming more niche and specialized means opening for a lot of different kinds of expertise and voices. But -

The thing I guess I miss is that old timey soothing cadence thing that he and a lot of those figures had - and sort of kept bringing into the now, whether it wholly felt relevant or not. I mean... "Larry, I'm on Ducktales" RIP

Saw a clip of Cavett interviewing Ian Mckellen in the 70s or early 80s and they were going DEEP into the acting craft. I was thinking you just don't see that now.
