WANDAVISION's constant attempts to ignore its own narrative give us SO MUCH to talk about when it comes to the point of mysteries, themes needing more than texture, and why baseline realities matter. Watercoolering With WANDAVISION - Ep. 3 - NOW IN COLORhttps://www.patreon.com/posts/46555836

To make what I'm saying a little more clear, in PLEASANTVILLE the entire conceit doesn't matter if the opening scenes of Toby being like "i wish i lived in this 1950s world!" weren't there. We have no idea why that would be her answer right now. They're mystery boxing MOTIVE

That’s a fascinating point, and i want to digest it. To me, if I had a problem with it - it’d be more of an Andrew Stanton story telling problem, as in Finding Nemo when we wanted to save the reveal of the moms death until the end or in John Carter, when he did save that reveal.

I think that’s totally valid. I do think that most people watching it are coming with a lot of prior knowledge, including that Vision isn’t even alive. But you are absolutely correct, this could not work on its own.

Maybe it's a difference in expectation? Between this and Mando, the D+ shows seem to be going a different way from the Marvel Netflix shows. Less "10 hour movie" and more Buffy, but instead of monster-of-the-week it's sitcom-decade-of-the-week

I'm sure it will become more about MCU stuff and explanations as it goes, but I don't think the sitcom stuff is there to artificially delay it, they're just genuinely having fun riffing on sitcom tropes through the ages
