I'm still enjoying the show but the fact DuckTales did this same idea MUCH better and in only 20 minutes (those 2 things feel connected) in the episode QuackPack diminishes its gimmicky appeal dramatically

(speaking of, Legends of Tomorrow ALSO did this premise of trapped in a tv show for on 2 separate occasions and both times it was more impressive cause it was more character driven, fun, and silly, something closer to the high paced zaniness of Stay Tuned)

I always appreciate your criticism. Good to see a different view of this show, though it’s working for me on all levels so far.
-
Same. Personally I love all the sitcom homage stuff, and the ratio of that to hints of the larger story is perfect as far as I'm concerned.

Andrew Niccol's earlier screenplay for Truman Show actually *did* hide the premise for like twenty pages. I'm not sure if it was Peter Weir or one of the producers who made the change but thank goodness they did.
-
There's zero actual mystery in it! But people fall into this trap all the time.

Isn't The Truman Show but from his perspective the first third of that movie? We don't get the reveal about what exactly is going on until we're deep into Act 2 in that one. Following that formula, we should get a reveal in the next couple episodes, no?
-
What? No. You find out immediately. They even advertised it that way.

If they’re just teasing in the next episode as well... I don’t know, something have to change.

My hope is that now that "containment" on whatever this reality is has been "broken" we'll see more of the outside perspective in the next episode. I want to believe the people making this are smart enough to know there's not much more to drag out here.
-
My worry is that if they knew that we would have had a very different first three episodes.
