If delivering me something I've waited 35 years to see is fan service then please check the tires and the wiper blades too.

You waited 35 years to see Luke meet a character introduced a year ago?

No, I waited 35 years to see the continuing adventures of Luke Skywalker. No matter how brief that glimpse was, it brought tears to my eyes. Somehow seeing Artoo again was just as emotional. I'd expect you of all people to understand that.

If that is your bar for the continuing adventures of Luke Skywalker I really don't know what to say my dude. I been a fan of this stuff just as long. I just am making the argument that we should have a storytelling barometer along with it PRECISELY because of that love / fandom.

That is and has been the problem all this time. It never had to keep up with the times or become a compelling thought piece, it just needed to be a fun space Western with some WWII mixed in. If you're okay, I'll just continue to love the shit out of it.

What made you fall in love with it in the first place was the great storytelling and a wonderful thought piece (believe me, i did a deep dive) - it's okay to want something just as goodhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3TQHc9bxjzk&ab_channel=FILMCRITHULK …

I've followed you for a long time, and I get what you're saying. I have about 10 years on you and that definitely plays a factor here. By 1995 they'd perfected appealing to 10-year-olds, we were the reason for that. Please don't read that as an old man rant.

What I'm trying to say is that there's a difference between Star Wars being your thing in 1995, and being the only thing in 1985. Maybe it's being a decade older, maybe it's the pandemic talking, but I'm ready to sacrifice quality for a sincere effort to appeal to Gen X.
