The Snyder Cut is fascinating. I never actually saw JL. But it's somehow morphed into this weird experiment and there's been enough crap going on this damn world that at this point I just hope 2) it's super freaking weird and 2) makes people happy.https://twitter.com/vladpooty/status/1329350592997838848 …

I dunno, maybe I'm just jaded. I just worry that it'll become a trend. Like if a Marvel movie was released and people didn't like parts of it so they take it down, reshoot it and put it out again.
-
True, but it’s specifically because Snyder had to leave the project right? I’m fine with him getting to make “his” movie. If it’s bad I hope it’s at least weird bad.

I am curious to see if this has an impact on the broader industry though, since they're almost entirely remaking a movie less than a decade after it released because people didn't like it. Maybe we'll get multiple versions and patchnotes for most major movies going forward

Such the crux of my concern, really.

Counter-counterpoint: there hasn't been an official release of the original star wars cut in any recent format, which makes archival and study of it very hard. This is part of a broader issue (also related to streaming services exclusives not releasing on home media).
-
So long as they don't try to overwrite history (pretend the original never happened by making it inaccessible) it's fine to me though! This is also a big problem with video game archival (ME3 and FFIV endings come to mind, Jim Sterling did an excellent video on this .)
