X-WING / TIE FIGHTER are some of my favorite games of all time. I was awaiting SQUADRONS with nervous concern, given the promise of that nature... 10 missions into the campaign and it's just... it's just too much arcade, not enough flight sim for my particular want.

I'll play multi-player when it get to it. Right now w/ the campaign, I never have any idea why I succeed / fail. Believe me, I read "the strategy" but it all feels random. Then I finally clear a check point for no discernible reason other than luck. Sometimes I barely do anything

What's interesting is both this and Fallen Order feel like they get trapped between the question of is this "a fun flow game" or a "learning-based mastery game" - because constructing those games have radically different tactics.

Instead they're trying to split the difference of "it's accessible fun, but the challenging part is there if you want it!" but it SO doesn't work like that. Because all that happens is I get lulled into a flow and then punished by sudden artificial difficulty. Know what you are.
