X-WING / TIE FIGHTER are some of my favorite games of all time. I was awaiting SQUADRONS with nervous concern, given the promise of that nature... 10 missions into the campaign and it's just... it's just too much arcade, not enough flight sim for my particular want.

Instead they're trying to split the difference of "it's accessible fun, but the challenging part is there if you want it!" but it SO doesn't work like that. Because all that happens is I get lulled into a flow and then punished by sudden artificial difficulty. Know what you are.

The hit boxes were a crushing obstacle in fallen order. Sometimes it was actually EASIER on insane difficulty just to get the timing to feel better, but that came with all sorts of other artificial problems.
