I don’t think most people see it that way. I do think animation kinda gives off a fantasy/cartoonish vibe that some people see as “not real”

Because American culture has indoctrinated us for decades to only view animation as a medium for children.

There's also just greed and laziness. It's part of the general "reboot/remake everything" culture. It's the same reason Broadway is flooded with musicals based on preexisting works.

Because there's clearly way more people who watch live-action shows/movies/etc. than there are people who watch the animated versions thereof, and we base the degree to which we legitimize media proportionally to how many people see it.

.... Is what I've heard. I'm not certain that whole thing is 100% factually true. But it is, I think, what a lot of people perceive to be true, and how those same people engage with media.
