PS - for folks who can't understand the Dunkin Donuts fixation of NE, are you familiar with the tradition of "Coffee Milk?" Because that explains a lot.

Growing up in Ireland you also experience the gamut. My grandmothers bacon and turnip would literally melt in the mouth. My mother’s, or when I’ve tried it, on the other hand...

My own Boston food take is that Lobsters are the rat of the sea, have no taste or texture beyond being slathered in butter.

Reminds me of Dennis Leary’s rant on his mom’s cooking, and yeah if I had to make dinner every night for a large family I’d boil most of it too

Yes. I am from NE, born in Boston, and I cannot eat Corned Beef and cabbage. I can eat the cabbage part, just not the corned beef. I'm not Irish Catholic (I am Catholic, just not Irish :-) )

My mother, who married into Boston Irish Catholicism, has the weirdest zeal for boiled dinner and the blander the better.

I've been seeing a lot of "one-pot" recipes in 2020. I thought it was a new trend but it seems to derive from Boiled Dinner? Anyway I hate it. It takes away all the flavors from each ingredient. It seems like it's made for stressed out Americans who want to cook in between emails

I mean, the history of braising goes back across infinite cultural approaches. Single pot cooking can be delicious if you understand WHAT to add when and why, but I suppose that's all cooking.
