Okay, is it me or is the difficulty spike in AC: Odyssey downright obtuse? I like it for a lot of choices by why can every single soldier suddenly got a pair of eagle eyes and can spot me in a damn second?

This literally feels like a crisis because Kassandra is the first AC protagonist / story I've liked in AGES, but this is fun / don't think / explore game and... I was just killed by two pigs on easy because this combat system is insufferably unbalanced.

I just got to the legendary boar which is the most artificially stupid fight I've ever come across. I really can't believe they made an AC game so broken. As many problems as the series has, they're still lay ups. But I literally have to stop playing this crap.

People tried to "action up" what was supposed to be a stealth franchise from the ground up because people who don't like stealth games bitched about the combat. We could've had Hitman: Time Traveller. Instead we got 3rd rate shadows of mordor.

I've always thought Assassin's Creed was at its best when it focused on the parkour-around-classic-architecture stuff and combat going longer than "stab a guy and keep moving" was essentially a failure state you tried to escape from. Haven't played Odyssey though.

I stopped playing when I found a piece of gear that had good stats, but looked horrible on me. I was considering what type of person I am, but then a popup reminded me "oh don't worry, you can actually have both! you can make any gear look like any other gear, no need to choose!"

The design of AC games seems to be about sanding down everything that could potentially be considered frustrating, until nothing interesting is left. AC games are perfectly smooth orbs of nothing. The most fast food a game could be.

I've seen a few people echo these thoughts and... I didn't see it, not once during the 160ish hrs I put in did the difficulty curve feel unfair, same with combat and parrying; I found both to be enjoyable. I wonder if it's what skills/gear you go with for a build?
