The thing I always loved about watching his work is that, for better or worse, it could tonally go anywhere at anytime for any reason, and there was always a little thrill to that. RIP.

Lots of enjoyable surprises in his catalog, I liked Blood Creek a lot more than I expected to.

The image of him I always have is him yelling at the actors in between take on Batman & Robin, “Remember everyone, this is a cartoon!”

Brought a girl on a first date to Tigerland. Married 15 years to her now. Good memories.

I forgot he had Falling Down and Veronica Guerin under his belt, among others. Lots of good stuff there.

Couldn’t agree more. Joel was a true legend. He will be incredibly missed. A legitimate trailblazer. There was no one like him...and never will be.

Absolutely one of my favorite directors and from all I've heard, a genuinely lovely human being. I'll be watching a few of my favorites in tribute this week.
