God this fight is so mentally demanding. That's the whole thing, right? I *finally* figure out the rhythm of phase 2 / get in a grove with all his swoopy nonsense but suddenly I'm an idiot against Genichiro again / Isshin's 1st phase keeps fucking my patience- haven't got back :[

Coolest achievement: Beating double apes on first try! Lamest personal moment: Cheesing Jinsuke Saze Scariest moment: SNAKE / Guardian part 2 Funniest moment: THAT MONKEY'S GOT A SWORD

Lastly, it's sort of hard to sum up my thoughts on all this, largely because this is my least accessible / most pedantic twitter thread I've ever written. I've lost like 600 followers and so many of you hopefully muted this. It must have been boring!

After all, so rarely was I digesting or spitting out things to help someone unfamiliar make sense of it or making jokes. So often it was "how do I get spacing with this dude's move? How do I block x?" etc., it was expressing frustration, or talking through my own myopic process.

So why did I keep doing it? Easy... So I didn't have to go through it alone. And you were all there, helping me through it. So this is dedicated to all of you. Know it meant so much in a game that has easily become one of my favorites of all time. You're all the best <3

question about Demon, did you tried to strategize it. for example, if you use the whistle on him it will stun him, but only 3 times, so what i did is to not use it on the first life, then only once on the second one and the last 2 on the third one

Man I tried everything for days. In the end, we just weren't simpatico. Ended up cheesing him.

The final 3 bosses of Sekiro push everything to the limit of patience; DoH in particular feels like unfair chaos at 1st but once it clicks this fight is so satisfying The “bad design” I can see is how much effort most players (myself included) need to put in to get to that point

Agree. A friend of mine described Demon of Hatred as a Bloodborne boss that, mechanically, felt out if place in Sekiro. Didn't really feel like a dance.

And that's the thing! It's that it's bad! The ape guardian fights are "soulsy" but THE FIGHTS ARE SO GOOD.
