I watched Cheryl Dunye's The Watermelon Woman last week and I'm furious and embarrassed it took me this long. It's incredible. And it spurred a few thoughts on engaging movies that are not "for" you and the power the many ways it effects understanding- BUThttps://www.patreon.com/posts/38070578

Look forward to watching it. I also wonder if you've seen Marleen Gorris's A Question of Silence. It left a strong impression of me as a film that knew it was not "for me" and clearly didn't give a crap (and was all the better for it). Highly recommended if you haven't seen it.
