If you had to choose between a Chosen One by prophecy plot or a Chosen One by bloodline, which would you choose?

I'm personally sick of magic blood and never want to see it used again. That being said, Hulk, what films do you think actually use the chosen one trope correctly?

imo Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind used it well but it also subverted the hell out of it

I’m literally watching The Amazing Spider-Man on TV (which I’ve never seen before), and this aspect is immediately cheesing me off. What ever happened to random twists of fate?

Chosen One by Due Democratic Process with Substantial Civic Oversight is, personally, MY favorite trope

I don't mean to be devil's advocate, but what about something like Avatar: The Last Airbender?

I feel like there is a valid distinction, but I can't verbalise it...

Man not for me - like, politics aside, nothing makes me lose engagement faster than a prophecy plot. It immediately narrows the potential plot outcomes down to this one, flat thing (fulfilled or subverted). Only if I'm already *really* loving it will I keep reading/watching
