      1. the movie still works. 2. I'm glad I watched this. I had been struggling coming up with a column idea and I think I got one (broader than the movie itself)

This is totally a PG movie with a totally disgusting pus filled wound. I was literally about to screenshot it, but no. Too gross.

I think 9 times out of 10 people say X movie "stole" from Y movie and it's overblown hooey that misunderstands the historical ubiquity of certain story choices, but man the end of this thing really cribbed a lot from Jedi, huh?

As the credits play on this thing I'm reminded how much really great bombastic music helped certain 80's movies like this... like most ear worms, the echo lasts long afterhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftRoYLzFMKo …

For me, it's Battle Beyond the Stars, a theme so good, Roger Corman used it in more of his movies, of course, that might be because it was James Horner. (Corman also reused a lot of the effects sequences, but that might be because it was James Cameron) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9mSgqMOKJho …

This movie's shamelessly happy ending - with very little justification given - is just totally charming and I'll always appreciate it
