Not gonna tag anyone, but I'm seeing the Vader hallway fight going around as the most "badass" moment in star wars history again and its like... Sure! Because the message of Star Wars is to be cool murderous badass and indulge your base, posturing desires for mayhem.

So uhh....how far did you get in Jedi: Fallen Order?

I felt that sequence was one of the most effective in the entire franchise for the character without compromising his OT mystique.

I suppose to me, as a viewer at that point, the plans were the lead character (with everyone else dead back on the planet to have gotten them off-world). But yeah, if the audience is hooting and hollering, I wonder how much that says about the audience (which is a fair criticism)

We don't care about plans like we care about people. But trust me, it's not just about the audience. It's about the way you shoot it, too and if you're going from dread you shoot that completely differently and set different dynamics.

The Darth Vader episodes of Star Wars Rebels are a good example of “Darth Vader as something to fear” rather then “something to cheer”

I don't think I've ever disagreed with a take more. I don't care if if star wars fans interpret it as kewl. Star wars are awful. It's the moment where everyone has to do their part against unrelenting horror and fascism in the hope it will be enough.
-
It's a moment free of bullshit chosen ones and wanky monomyth. Its easily the most moving a powerful moment in any of those movies. The last 20 or so minutes of Rogue one are the best and most meaningful in the franchise.

Disagree with your sentiment. But I do agree that it would have been more effective had he been chasing the main character. I wanted more of him in the film because he’s terrifying

The way it's filmed glorifies Vader's destruction and power and that's not the message Lucas wanted for this story. Vader is to be feared, sure, but never idolised.

Interesting. I love that scene — I’ve always found it haunting. But when I saw in theatre, the audience was sympathetic to the “cannon fodder”, after a movie where “the heroes” are a group of imperfect people who die for a higher cause. I wonder if that influenced my take...
