Not gonna tag anyone, but I'm seeing the Vader hallway fight going around as the most "badass" moment in star wars history again and its like... Sure! Because the message of Star Wars is to be cool murderous badass and indulge your base, posturing desires for mayhem.

Look if that's what you want from this series, own it. But what I really have trouble with is the portion of the fandom that looks at that scene and is like "yes! yes!" while talking out the other side of their mouth about the wouldve / should've story compass of these films.

Because it speaks to the obvious: they likely just see these films as personal power fantasy, not by the core moral ethos that drives their narrative. And so every moment of the storytelling is often judged solely through that indulgent lens.

And it's the not realizing it that makes conversation so hard. It all gets mixed up so easy. But to use a metaphor we'll hopefully grok, I'm so tired of those with the sith wants acting like they're the jedi of this fandom. But of course, this is all bigger than star wars.

Also sorry, I gotta mute this thread and go do work stay sane. I'm just trying to make a salient point about storytelling and how I think it best works and reveals our human intentions. Luv all ur buttz <3

All the more reason that I’m so happy we get to celebrate Ahsoka Tano’s journey because damn, talk about a moral center.

In the beginning of that scene, when Vader turns on his light saber, and you see him in the cramped hall with the door locked behind him, I was truly afraid of him again, like when I was a kid. I was scared for the men in that hallway. 1/

Setting aside the merits of the violence that followed, that moment restored in an instant the fear of the man in that mask, which faded a bit for me as his story was told and mystery unraveled. So maybe not *the* coolest moment, but a great restorative character beat maybe? 2/2

I like it because it drives home how scary Vader is. Not cheering for him when I first saw it but just looked in horror.

To me, they remind me more of the Rancor’s owner- loving the destruction and crying when it doesn’t go their way-

Some people think being nice is easy. When in reality it's sometimes the hardest thing. Luke refusing to be corrupted at the end of Return of the Jedi is badass. He too may choose to experience the exhilaration of anger. But that's easy. And that's what Palpatine is banking on.

I think that's why Fallen Order's execution of a simliar sequence works better - He isn't chasing some rando rebels, it's your player character and his mentor you've spent a whole game getting attached to. It's tense and the ending fulfills Cere's character arc beautifully.

It’s even difficult to buy merch that isn’t covered in stormtroopers and Vader helmets. I’d love a Rebellion shirt but 🤷🏻‍♀️
