Look if that's what you want from this series, own it. But what I really have trouble with is the portion of the fandom that looks at that scene and is like "yes! yes!" while talking out the other side of their mouth about the wouldve / should've story compass of these films.

Because it speaks to the obvious: they likely just see these films as personal power fantasy, not by the core moral ethos that drives their narrative. And so every moment of the storytelling is often judged solely through that indulgent lens.

And it's the not realizing it that makes conversation so hard. It all gets mixed up so easy. But to use a metaphor we'll hopefully grok, I'm so tired of those with the sith wants acting like they're the jedi of this fandom. But of course, this is all bigger than star wars.

Also sorry, I gotta mute this thread and go do work stay sane. I'm just trying to make a salient point about storytelling and how I think it best works and reveals our human intentions. Luv all ur buttz <3

I would say it wasn't even the most badass part of that movie, which would be the scene right before that where they see the ship get away and then die in the water like heroes.

I love the scene but as a moment of pure horror, what Vader is capable of when unleashed, and the frantic desire to save the galaxy at whatever cost (basically an encapsulation of the rest of the movie's message with the whole Suicide Mission thing)
-
he's a walking nightmare is what I've thought every time

Here's a counterpoint to make those sorts of people extremely angry: Luke's fight with Kylo in TLJ shows an even higher level of personal power against a much stronger opponent
-
Vader, with stormtroopers, killed some nameless soldiers. Luke, alone, across the galaxy, defeated a powerful sith without getting hit once *That's* badass
