Re: all those posts about people who can't picture an apple in their minds, it's less that the phenomenon blows my mine, it's that I'm more curious how that effects literally everything about their lives...

What a gulf this is. I’m definitely on the visual side. This is like a “what if my red isn’t the same as your red?” level experiential difference.

I don’t even know how to describe, but I know an apple x things, it is red, it is round but not a sphere, there is a dip on top for a stem. I just never see a picture in my head.

For me, it’s someone explaining what an apple looks like to me.

I'm a very conceptual thinker and the best way I can describe it is that an apple, in my brain, is the epicenter of all the concepts and memories that are related to it. I can sort of conjure a visual apple in my brain if I need to, but it's hard and not the default.

If someone tells me to picture an apple my first thought is “what varietal?” I see a whole orchard until I’m given a specific.

Vision’s a weak sense for me, so I get hit by my tactile experience with apples. The cool juice running down my chin, the feel on my teeth as I bit into one, the crispness of a fresh apple, the mushy gross teeth-on-chalkboard of an overripe one. The feel and weight in my hand.
