The thing about the horrible eggs ruining Animal Crossing is I genuinely can't believe they thought this was a good idea and implemented it. Because these sorts of big MMO events have an established pathway that was learned from lots of trial and error...

Normally you do these sorts of things MONTHS into a game to freshen it up, when any sort of change feels super welcome. But TWO WEEKS IN!?!?! Just when everyone is getting going and still working on their basics!? Then you're introducing a game-breaking mechanic. It's bonkers.

I adore Nintendo because of how much they ignore established "rules," but sometimes those same bold choices ignore the basic, established needs of gaming and you end up with these kinds of feast and famine scenarios. Just bonkers.

Bonkers? I see people rushing through all content they can manage in the first week. This has been, for decades, a game for people to play a little bit daily for years. I'm a bit frustrated with all the people jumping in and demanding it to follow their maximization rush.

The holiday event isn't even there just to freshen up the gameplay, its there because this game follows the real calendar, and so it pays homage to big holidays. If anyone "starves", it's because they didn't get the sense of pace of this game.

They "didn't get" the pace of the game? Which one of us policing the fucking other here? Come on, dude, this is patronizing as hell. The game absolutely allows for both styles of play. It's downright built for it.

I'm not the one going on a rant on how bad Nintendo's design is and telling them to "catch up" with games with very different design philosophies, as if they all had a single universal goal.

As much as this game has more daily tasks than any other AC game before that, it's still intended to be played over a long period of time. The limitations built in are a reflection of that. Limited resources per day, limited shop items, days of building, seasonal collectibles...

Their design philosophy is very different from the continuous investment demanded by MMOs. AC is less concerned that you spend hours and hours of grind. It just expects you to come back tomorrow. Which is refreshing in a medium with highly-demanding games.

I understand all this. I'm talking about how egg hunting is now 60% of what shows up in resource gathering regardless if you are playing for 1 hour/8 hours a day. And you're lecturing me saying I don't understand that the game works, when this is happening to BOTH play styles.

Whatever is bothering you about how people are playing this game has nothing to do with what I'm talking about, and you just jumped on a thread about what I was saying with something else. So come off it.

On top of that, being mad that people are playing this game in big chunks when there's a damn quarantine going on is bizarre. Stop policing how other people play, it's inane.

Now that's just uncalled for. I don't control the damn pandemic, I'm just commenting on the design. You can play however you feel like. It's just geared to a certain kind of experience, which I don't control either.
