Because they can’t test unless I’ve 1) been traveling to “countries effected” (you know, as if we’re not effected) or 2) knowingly interacted with someone who has tested positive.

And it’s like, dude, it’s LA and I probably could have publicly interacted with lots of people last week who had travelled or exposure, or a million other things. I was frustrated. He felt the same frustration.

To be clear, when it comes to establishing just how many are getting sick and who has it, this effectively dysfunction incarnate. The height of the US being unprepared to deal with the BASIC need to test those who actually have all the symptoms.

And what if one my friends god forbid starts feeling the same way but they also can’t get a test, all because they didn’t TEST ME in turn. This is utter hilarity of testing standards not fitting how fast this all moves.

The non-confirmation can just go on and on and on with all of us. Which sucks because the solution with my doctor is that we still just “treat as though it is.”

I’m in good shape enough that I can get through. I just continue my long quarantine. Not interact with a soul. And yes, this could also just be another strain of flu not in the flu shot. OF COURSE. But it sucks feeling completely helpless and unsure with Schroedinger’s Covid.

Is right now, how many people across the country are in this same position where they’re sick w/ close symptoms and unsure? Is even talking about this online irresponsible and fear stoking? Is NOT mentioning that this is happening irresponsible?

I really appreciate you sharing this, especially the symptoms. The lack of testing here is driving me INSANE. The “travel to countries effected” requirement is so stupid and xenophobic.

Yup. It's like "oh is Seattle not part of this country?"

My peabrained employer made me use a travel request form to notify them that I was being tested!
