So. Time to catch y’all up on the last 48 hours. I have virtually no interest in stoking more paranoia. Let’s just call this sharing a laser-focused expression of my personal experience in the current health crisis and the problems of navigating it.

For background, I totally got my flu shot. I’ve also been around people with flu this year and didn’t get sick. And I mention this because… Out of nowhere, Thursday afternoon I started feeling not right.

I felt dizzy and like I couldn't string two thoughts together. And deep down, it was one of those moments where you just know your body is off. That something is different. You really do just know that something isn’t right.

So I isolated myself immediately. I was already doing that, but as the night wore on my throat got drier and drier, and my body achier and achier. Right as I was going to bed, my body felt basically immobile. Bending my arms felt like breaking tree branches.

I got chills like I haven't gotten in my entire life. I thought I'd never be warm again. Which alternated with getting incredibly overheated, basically delirious. I don’t have a thermometer and they’re now on backorder for weeks, but I know what a damn fever feels like.

Symptom-wise, I’m well on my way to Corona-Town. Not to be flippant. But I also asked my friend who is currently being tested for Covid19 in a different state (after testing negative for everything else) and they described the same exact symptoms in first 24 hours.

So I talked to my doctor. I’m already quarantining, but does it help to get tested? Is even leaving my house more dangerous to others? But the thing is I had all the symptoms, minus one, but it’s THE COUGH which is key. But I was told until it comes, no testing, just call back.

So I get to just continue the quarantine. By this point, I’ve talked to absolutely everyone I’ve been in contact with. I just have to deal with the moment to moment and observe my symptoms.
