The only distinctions among them are slight differences in quality and kooky naming conventions. There are barely even specialties anymore. But this is what exists everywhere. This is the menu of modern Americana.

Some would argue this is a classist argument, I assure you it's the opposite. You can get cheaper, more delicious food all over if you know where to look for it (especially if you're adventurous). What we're seeing this byproduct of corporate domination.

To use that term again, these places are brutally convenient. They are safe and known quantities. I can defer to them like anyone else. But as a result, they can punch and push every mom and pop roadside to the curb in seconds.

To be clear, I'm not telling you anything you don't know, already. Of course we all know. It's just that as I combed through every menu looking for distinction, the sameness felt so incredibly suffocating. And sometimes it's important to see the forest.
