What about movies where the trailer put you in certain mindset where it’s easier to « trick you » I had expectations for Jojo Rabbit for example (but I don’t know if you’ve seen it)

The new Bond trailer is giving me probably unrealistic expectations for the amount of Ben Whishaw.

The style of trailers seems to have changed in the past couple decades to just telling you everything instead of teasing you on what is cool abt the movie. The Starfish trailer was really good and actually convinced me to watch it

Tons of old movies have trailers that show you everything.

How do you choose what to watch? Particularly when it's not from people you're familiar with?
-
i work in the industry and am surrounded by people who see movies and also critics so i sorta half pay attention and have a good sense of what's supposed to be worth seeing for the most part

At this point I just get a general sense of buzz from the handful of critics I follow, then check out anything that seems worth it. It’s fun being pleasantly surprised by who’s cast in the movie when you go in blind!

It is very difficult to not get excited about things. Or at least Very Intrigued. But I agree on the trailer front.

I rely a lot on festival chatter and avoid previews for those. But for a lot of big blockbuster stuff I don't really care if I get spoiled or not.

This is the culture for a lot of music listening and I think it’s the right choice. People let pre release effect their expectations way too much and miss out on stuff in front of their noses.
